Bello urges accountability in governance

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has stressed the need for probity and accountability in line with the vision of the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari
The governor said this on Tuesday in his office while playing host to the management of the Global Steel Holding Limited which paid him a courtesy visit as it embarked on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Federal Government to resuscitate the National Iron Ore Mining Company.

According to the governor, Kogi is hugely endowed with mineral resources which could not be judiciously utilised by successive administrations due to lack of political will.

He said, “There is change in Nigeria and indeed Kogi State. Our President is globally known for probity and accountability when it relates to public asset. As the governor of the state and a firm believer in Mr President, I will not condone the sharp practices of the past where investors just wanted a win-lose system where they made their gains at the expense of government and the people.

“This relationship must be a win-win system for both the investors and the government and by extension the custodian of the asset or resources.”

Speaking at the reception organised for the team, the Sole Administrator of NIOMCO, Mr Bernard Nnanga, said the company had been fully authorised by the Federal Government to develop raw materials for the Ajaokuta Steel Company, Alana Steel Company and other steel companies in the country.
